Eve Online console and PC crossover announced
Eve Online developer CCP has unveiled DUST 514, a “console-based hybrid MMO/FPS set within the EVE universe.” The new MMO, CCP’s first venture into console-gaming realms, involves shooter and RTS elements and interacts directly with Eve Online. Most of DUST 514’s gameplay will involve “brutal ground combat” on the surface of EVE planets, giving consolegamers control of infantry and commanders with configurable weapons and vehicles.
DUST 514 is currently entering its third year of production and is being developed by CCP’s Shanghai studio, “Our success with EVE Online has afforded us the highest caliber global design and production talent in gaming,” said CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Petursson, “With a team of the best minds in the industry, we conceived an ambitious new take on virtual world development with DUST 514.”
More details will be revealed at the CCP Fanfest event, 1-3 October this year in Iceland.
